Woodlands is excited to seek and hire our next Pastor of Senior High Youth Ministries.  At Woodlands, our next generation ministries have a history of being impactful for our community and our congregation.  As a church we aspire to be a Christ-centered community helping people faithfully following Jesus.  This mission is also the heartbeat of Woodlands Youth; to help students faithfully follow Jesus by leading them in trusting Jesus, being with Him, and becoming like Him.  We look forward to being led to the person who will passionately pursue this purpose and collaborate with our Pastor of Junior High Youth Ministries to lead Woodlands Youth.

Job Description

PURPOSE

The Pastor of Senior High Youth Ministries will work with the Woodlands Youth Team to help students faithfully follow Jesus by leading them in trusting Jesus, being with Him, and becoming like Him. This person should enjoy spending time with students and be skilled in interacting with them. They must also desire to recruit and develop adult leaders who can invest in the lives of students.

The Pastor of Senior High Youth Ministries reports to the Executive Pastor.

PRIMARY ASSIGNMENTS

Woodlands Youth

  • Adult Leaders: Recruit, oversee, care for, and train teams of adults as they disciple youth and lead groups, activities, and events.
  • Students: Interact with all students over the course of a semester and invest in a few by training, mentoring, and walking through life with them. This also includes caring for students in especially challenging and/or emergency situations, and being ready if a crisis should happen.
  • Programming: Work together with the Pastor of Junior High Youth Ministries in designing, planning, and implementing events and activities to help students and leaders faithfully follow Jesus. This includes Wednesday Youth Group nights, mission trips, retreats, student and leader training, special off-campus activities, discipleship groups, and fundraisers.
  • Teaching: Teach from the text of the Bible in a way that intrigues and engages students and adults while also clearly communicating the meaning of the text.
  • Parents: Communicate with and encourage parents as they are the primary influencers of teenagers’ faith. This is an area Woodlands Youth is seeking to enhance.
  • Ministry Leadership: Participate in weekly Ministry Leadership meetings to help shepherd Woodlands Church well.

SECONDARY ASSIGNMENTS

General Pastoral Duties

Preach to the entire congregation 1-4 times a year, perform weddings and funerals, interview congregants who apply for membership, and participate in other areas of Church ministry.

Continual Learning

Consistently find ways to increase your understanding of Biblical knowledge, missional strategy, teenage culture, and the local context.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ
  • A person of clear Christ-like character, maturity and godly reputation who meets the qualifications described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
  • Sincerely loves people with a shepherd’s heart and aches for the lost
  • Has a clear calling specifically to Youth Ministry
  • Prefer 5 years of experience leading Youth Ministry
  • Has a successful track record of recruiting, equipping, making disciples and multiplying volunteers
  • Possesses strong organizational, communication and time management skills
  • A team player who loves being a part of a team and building teams
  • Sees value and joy in longevity, excited to commit to this adventure for the next five years
  • Embraces EFCA Doctrine with a view to being credentialed
  • Has a degree or substantial education/training in Bible and Theology
