Hey Woodlands…
I’m starting to feel pretty convicted – I’ve worked hard, raised a good family, made some money, and have always been careful to give and be generous. But when I look at the needs in the world – and the fact that I have so much by the world’s standards – I feel guilty. What should I do – assuming giving everything away and becoming a hermit isn’t an option?

Thanks for reaching out! It’s wonderful that you’re interested in getting more involved in God’s kingdom work. As followers of Christ, we have the unique privilege of using our gifts and resources to make a difference.
Remember, we’re not owners of anything, but stewards of what God has entrusted to us. That means we can use what we have to support things that bring joy to our Father’s heart. That’s why God calls us to give generously, from the heart. In 2 Kings 12:1-5, the king talks about giving according to the promptings of his heart. And in 2 Corinthians 9, Paul reminds us to give cheerfully, not reluctantly.
So, let’s find joy in giving back! Sometimes we might think we have to sacrifice our own joy to be obedient. But I believe that the things we give up might actually be holding us back from a deeper, lasting joy. Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:20 to “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven.”
If you’re interested in learning more about how you can use your resources to make a difference, I’d be happy to share some ideas with you.
