Reading:
Isaiah 49-51, Psalm 114, 2 Timothy 1
Prayer:
- In Paul’s second letter to Timothy, there is an emphasis on suffering well for the sake of the gospel. Paul is writing from prison to his spiritual son, Timothy, encouraging him to press on in faith in the God who, “has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace” (v.9) and part of that calling is “the promise of life in Christ Jesus” (v.1). Paul can confidently call the son whom he loves to continue on the path that is sure to bring persecution or suffering because, “I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to guard what has been entrusted to me until that day” (v.12). Pray for yourself today in this same vein, pray for loved ones in the faith, and pray for our missionaries. Pray for you to know Jesus more deeply, to love him more fully, and to follow him in all of life, for all of life.
- Yesterday we prayed for moms- today, pray for dads, young and seasoned, to-be and deeply desiring to-be. Pray that their hearts would be refreshed and renewed by the Word, by Jesus. Pray that they would experience the gospel of grace deeply themselves and be a guide for their families to walk in grace, as well.
- Please pray for Dave and Heidi as they seek to bring about gospel healing while they serve their fellow missionaries who are coming off the field for a wide variety of reasons.*
