Reading:

1 Chronicles 17-19, Psalm 74, NT Catch Up

Prayer:

  • The opening lines of Psalm 74 can quickly bring us back into the story of Israel that we’ve read so far in the Old Testament reading plan.  The phrase “and anger of the Lord was kindled…” was a phrase we read often as we read the story of how Israel drifted into rebellion, sin, and folly throughout their story.  This psalm acknowledges the burning anger of the Lord and calls God to “remember” his people, his faithfulness to keep the covenant he made with Abraham to bless all the nations, as if God could forget.  But we do!  We forget, so like the psalmist, remind yourself today who God is – what would you ask him to remember?  (Visit verses 12-17 to get started – or sneak back to Psalm 72:12-14.) “And none of us know how long this will last” (v.9), but God does and we can turn to him with the pain and frustration of the day and remember who he is and what he has promised.  Lean into him today.
  • Many of our youth have committed to forming habits to stay in touch with God this summer.  Pray for families, leaders and students as they seek to put these plans into place.  Pray that God would enable His Spirit to draw students into deeper relationship with Him.
  • Pray for the team of evangelists in Indonesia seeking to share the love and good news of Jesus with their country men and women.*
