Reading:
2 Chronicles 15-17, Proverbs 1, 1 Corinthians 14
Prayer:
- Today we get to wrestle through 1 Corinthians 14 in our reading, which in an initial reading can seem a bit confusing and hard. And yet, we also get to read Proverbs 1 today. The introduction to the entire book proclaims that these proverbs are, “for learning, wisdom, and discipline, for understanding insightful sayings; for receiving prudent instruction in righteousness, justice, and integrity” (v. 2-3). Likewise, the instruction given in 1 Corinthians 14 has a goal – to build up the body of the church. As we navigate through Scripture that can sometimes feel hard to understand or comprehend, pray that our hearts as a believing body would be as that of the wise person in Proverbs 1:5, “let a wise person listen and increase learning, and let a discerning person obtain guidance.” Lean into the Spirit and press the hard-to-understand pieces – fear the Lord and we’ll begin to gain knowledge. Pray for this humble posture to be true in your own heart.
- VBS week is coming at the end of this month. Pray for the Lord to be working in the hearts and minds of the kids, volunteers, and leaders that will take part in VBS at Woodlands this year. Pray that the gospel would run ahead of this week, that a harvest would come from proclaiming the name of Jesus!
- Pray for Zac and Becky who are serving in the Wisconsin Dells with Cru. *
