Reading:
Nehemiah 11-13, Psalm 89, 2 Corinthians 12
Prayer:
- “But he said to me, ‘‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’” The famous line from 2 Corinthians 12:9. This line follows an explanation from Paul of the gift of a ‘thorn in the flesh given to me’ and how this thorn caused him to fall on his knee in prayer. The answer to the prayer was not the removal of the thorn, but grace enough to enable him to bear the thorn and rise to the point of rejoicing to ‘boast in his weakness’. As Spurgeon points out, “Anything is a blessing that makes us pray.” What in your life is causing you to pray? You can pray in confidence for grace to enable you to endure and be raised up to rejoice in your weakness, as it makes much of the Giver of sufficient grace.
- Woodlands Youth will have “Summer Chill” tonight, which is our outdoor occasional summer program to include games, teachings and hang time. Pray that students’ hearts would be open to what God is saying to them and that meaningful connections would be made for the newer students there.
- Please pray for Dave & Sarah as they seek to make disciples of Jesus. They will be visiting us on August 15. If you’d like to hear more about their ministry, plan on attending a small luncheon following the services.*
