Reading:
Nehemiah 8-10, Proverbs 7, 2 Corinthians 11
Prayer:
- Proverbs 7 today mimics the first several proverbs in that we see wisdom being passed down from parents to their children. This differs a little from other wisdom books in Scripture – often we see wisdom coming from the mouth of prophets or from God himself, but here we see a wisdom tradition being passed from generation to generation, yet still founded on God’s wisdom. Reading the proverbs as “probable principles” rather than promises fits this kind of reading; i.e. the father has been told the wisdom of past generations, observed patterns himself, and now is able to speak wisely to his son. Let’s pray that we would treasure the wisdom of God and to form our lives around it. Pray for humble hearts to heed the warning to ‘guard my instructions’.
- VBS is officially happening this week again at Woodlands! Please be praying for our kids this week, both those who attend Woodlands regularly and those who are from the community visiting us, that they would see how God has begun a work in them that will not be completed until Christ returns (Phillippians 4:6).
- Please pray for Andy & Barb as they seek to make disciples of Jesus.*
