Reading:

OT Catch Up, Psalm 100, Philippians 3

Prayer:

  • Psalm 100 is one of those short, yet powerful poems that help us, as believers, give thanks.  The Gospel Transformation Study Bible gives this commentary, “Providing seven ways to give thanks, the psalmist exhorts worshippers to be grateful at all times. … Knowing God not only humbles dependent creature, it heartens them to realize that he is willing to make himself known, and ultimately he does so through Jesus Christ, revealing our God as Father and Good Shepherd.  The Father … is good in all his roles.  He is the good Creator who endowed us with his image, which requires treating every person with dignity.  His universal rule reminds us of his protection, calls us to bold prayer, and motivates us to discipleship as those purchased at a great price.  That purchase was made out of the ‘steadfast love’ that epitomized God’s character and which finds full expression in the death and resurrection of Jesus.  He is the Good Shepherd who cares for his sheep all the days of their lives.”  So many reasons to give praise and thanks today.  Start your time in prayer doing just that.
  • This weekend we dug into Ephesians 5:21-33.  There is a beautiful illustration drawn between godly marriages and the relationship between Christ and his church.  Pray that marriages at Woodlands would reflect the relationship between Christ and his church.  Pray that through these kinds of godly marriages, God would draw in more and more people that need the salvation Christ offers. Pray the marriages at Woodlands would be tool used by God to make his body more holy and more winsome (to him) to the world around us.
  • This space is kept for praying for our supported missionaries.  In just over 6 weeks time, we’ll work through the 30+ missionaries that are supported by Woodlands.  At the beginning of praying for this list of faithful brothers and sisters, pray over the entire group – those supported financially by Woodlands as well as those supported by you through financial giving and prayer.  Pray that Jesus would be their first love, and that they would remain humble and teachable before him.  Pray that they would be encouraged and strengthened through the power of the Spirit.  Pray for fruitful lives and fruitful ministries. *
