Thanks for using this tool to engage with our Heavenly Father!
Last week we wrapped up the book “A Praying Life” by Paul E. Miller. And this week we enter Easter week. Song lyrics are a wonderful way to lead you into a worshipful, sweet time of prayer time. So this week we will look at a handful of different songs meant for you to reflect on and inspire you to pray in a way that will lead our hearts to Good Friday.
Today’s song is “Lamb of God”. Read and reflect on the lyrics below.
“Lamb Of God”
You came from heaven's throne
Acquainted with our sorrow
To trade the debt we owe
Your suff'ring for our freedom
The Lamb of God in my place
Your blood poured out my sin erased
It was my death You died I am raised to life
Hallelujah the Lamb of God
My name upon Your heart
My shame upon Your shoulders
The pow'r of sin undone
The cross for my salvation
There is no greater love
There is no greater love
The Savior lifted up
There is no greater love

WEEKLY PRAYER PROMPTS:
Each week we will provide 3 -5 different prompts to aid you in praying for the people and ministries of Woodlands Church as well as the people within our community. This week, pray for the following five prompts:
Easter: We are in Easter week. This week we reflect on Jesus’ walk to the cross and His triumphant victory over sin and death that He won for us! Pray, as you walk through this week, that your love for the Lord Jesus would deepen. Pray that as the knowledge of your own sinfulness grows, your knowledge of what Christ won for you would also– that your reverence and deep love for Him would grow, too.
Easter Sunday is a time when many who have not heard the gospel will come to Woodlands. Pray that the Lord would be softening and preparing hearts to hear and respond to His good news for life and salvation!
InterVarsity Easter Event Follow Up: This past Saturday, InterVarsity hosted an Easter event for international students at Woodlands with the help of some from the Community of Hospitality. Pray for the follow up of that event. Pray that the Lord would draw many to Himself through this event and through those working with InterVarsity.
Spring Into Action: Sign ups for Spring into Action are in full swing. Pray that many from Woodlands would take part in this tangible act of service to our community. Pray that the Lord would establish the work of our hands and that He would work through this event to bring more from our community into a loving relationship with Himself.
Kids Crossing Fun Fair Outreach: Kids Crossing not only equips our kids to know God and love Him, but it also equips them to share the Good News. Praise and thank God for this ministry and the many volunteers it takes to make it happen week in and week out!
We are nearing the end of the ministry year for Kids Crossing, and thus, the Fun Fair. This is a replica of the “Kids Crossing Carnival” that takes place earlier in the week, but intended for Kids Crossing participants to invite their friends to experience a little of what Kids Crossing has to offer. Pray for the logistics of this event, that we would have an abundance of volunteers, and that many news kids would walk through the doors on Thursday, May 9 and that they would continue to return to hear the truth about Jesus!
Growing in Wisdom: As we end the series “Forks and Fences”, continue to pray for wisdom – for yourself, for your church family, for church leadership, and the list goes on.
This is also the time of year when many of us have built in a ‘mid-course correction’ in our Spiritual Growth Plans- a time to inventory and make changes as needed to our SGPs. Pray that those who attend Woodlands would be seeking God’s wisdom, and would be spending time in His word and in prayer every day.
SCRIPTURE TO PRAY:
Each week we encourage you to use one new Biblical prayer as a guideline to pray for family, friends, small group members, our missionaries, pastors and staff.
The verse for this week is Ephesians 2:13 in the CSB translation.
But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.
MISSIONARY TO SUPPORT:
Each day, we’ll highlight a missionary/country/region/movement for whom to be praying. Remember, several of our missionaries are serving in sensitive areas so we will not always be able to share full names, locations, or their ministry. If you are interested in learning more specifics, please contact Whitney Swenson.
Pray for crisis in Venezuela. The following is from a missionary in Venezuela.
The crisis in Venezuela has rapidly grown worse, compelling me to add this call for prayer. The political standoff and the lack of basic goods have been intensified by a recent blackout over most of Venezuela. A friend in medical school tells of nurses pumping manual resuscitators round the clock to keep babies with respiratory problems alive. Not all have survived. Flashlight batteries and even candles are hard to come by. Water has stopped in many places because pumps do not work, and many go to sewers for water. Paper money is practically worthless due to inflation and ATM machines do not work. Banks are closed. Stores are closed.
After six days, food in people’s refrigerators is spoiling – salt is applied to meat in a last-ditch effort to preserve it. Though electricity is being restored in some places, the ill-maintained system is bound to fail again. Crime is increasing out of desperation. People are afraid. Churches still meet and pray. Occasionally friends find a way to get internet access and write, imploring us to continue with them in prayer.
Please pray that the suffering may end as soon as possible and that God may, in His way, bring many to Jesus through it all may, in His way, bring many to Jesus through it all."
