Clinic days always started with long lines of patients wanting to be seen. When we calculated about how many each provider could serve in a day, numbers were given to those still in line to return the next day. It was so difficult to turn people away. Close to 1400 people were seen in four days of clinic.
As a team, we provided general medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, orthopedics, ophthalmology, ob-gyn, dentistry, nutrition consulting, a pharmacy, lab services, family photos and a spiritual clinic.
Patients would go through a triage area where their greatest need would be identified. They would then be escorted to that area and be seen by a provider.
After being seen they would drop off their paperwork at the pharmacy. Their scripts would be filled for them while they visited the photo area and the spiritual clinic.
They would return to the pharmacy for their medicine and everyone would also receive a toothbrush, toothpaste, and vitamins.
