Our Junior High meets every Wednesday night from 7-9pm for REALITY CHECK. This is a fun and dynamic evening to connect with God and friends. Each night includes fun activities, relevant Jr. High specific teaching, small group activities, hangout time and worship.
PJ - Pastor Jordan Huffman is the pastor for Reality Check.
EDGE is our weekly large group gathering on Wednesday nights for 9-12 grade students. The evening is designed to be a time where we tackle real-life teen issues, but have a little fun as we do it. At the core of an EDGE gathering is the desire to look into God’s Word and see it’s relevance in our daily lives as we try and live out the two greatest commandments…to love God with everything we’ve got and to love others. Using games, videos, worship experiences, Bible teaching and Small Groups we do our best to weave together a night where our faith is challenged, the fun factor is high and friendships are nurtured. No two nights are the same! Read our Edge FAQ page here.
Pastor Mike McGuire is the pastor for EDGE.

Sr. High FAQ
What does a typical Wednesday night EDGE gathering look like?
EDGE meets in the Chapel and kicks off at 7pm. Every nights schedule varies, but we often start off with some sort fun activity that plasters a grin on our faces. Some nights we worship along with the student led worship band, some nights we hear firsthand from EDGE students what God has been teaching them lately, some nights we take a few minutes to discuss a current event and how it intersects our faith…ok, you get the picture. Every night has different elements, but the goal is always the same; how can we grow closer to Jesus.
How do EDGE Small Groups work?
Most EDGE nights we break into Small Groups after the large group time is done, typically around 8pm. Our Small Groups are configured by gender and grade (i.e. – Soph guys, Jr girls, etc). We do our best to keep Small Groups in the 4-5 student range, knowing that smaller groups tends to promote better discussion. Each Small Group is led by a same gender Adult Equipper from the ministry, and lead the group through a series of questions (some fun, some serious) dealing with the topic of the night. Small Groups are laid back, conversational discussions where application is key.
How does JV / Varsity work?
JV / Varsity is a Wednesday night format we utilize occasionally. The concept is pretty simple…Frosh/Soph make up the JV Team and Jr/Sr make up the Varsity Team. On JV/Varsity nights the two groups do different things. By breaking our large group in half it allows us to do some things programmatically that we normally can’t simply based on the size and scope of our audience. Sometimes both groups are “on campus” (at church) and sometimes we utilize this format to keep one group “on campus” and the other “off campus” (service project, coffee house, small group meal, etc.)

We strongly believe in our Wednesday night programs, EDGE and Reality Check. These venues provide open doors for youth to invite their friends. Students are challenged to live in the world, but not of the world...their life is their witness. But, we feel that the nature of Wednesday nights doesn’t permit us to teach all the important doctrine to the depth that we’d like. For example, in our cycles we just don’t seem to have opportunity to teach a detailed doctrine of the Trinity or inerrancy of Scripture or the person and work of the Holy Spirit let alone challenge youth to memorize the books of the Bible, key Biblical lists or extensive Scripture memory. It just doesn’t fit, isn’t well received when we try and places tension on our other values for the evening.
Drum roll please...introducing...Church U
Church U is a Sunday School seminar-type class that provides an ideal environment to press these critical values forward. Wednesday programming focuses on a broad-based Christian worldview in a safe environment with a view to relationships with peers and trusted other adults. Church U is primarily a learning environment for youth and their parents aimed at specifics within a Christian worldview. Each program scratches a different itch, so to speak. Church U’s primary focus centers around two areas: 1) to provide a more systematic and comprehensive Christian Education and 2) to press youth into parents and parents into their children by strengthening communication between the two.
Church U - How it Works:
The true success of Church U lies in parental involvement. Though the primary learning piece will happen in the classroom, life application and going deeper principles are encouraged outside classroom time with various take-home components for individuals and families.
In Church U we cover a multitude of topics within the broad categories of Theology, Bible Basics, Spiritual Disciplines, Comparative Religions, Biblical Worldview and Cultural Hot Topics. Class time is a mix of up-front presentation combined with parent/child/table discussion, and sometimes we ditch all the up-front teaching and simply go learn by “doing”. The value of Church U is not simply in the gaining of Biblical knowledge, but rather the medium of learning together as parent and child.
Church U is run as a 3 year class with 9 total modules (3 per year). Each module consists of 4-5 sessions.
In the end we ultimately hope that Church U simply reinforces and encourages the Biblical model of parents as the primary spiritual influence in their kid’s life.
So the only question that remains...is Church U for you?
