The New Moms Ministry Team would like to match women who are anticipating a new addition to their family (through birth or adoption) with another mom who can serve as “Mentor Mom” to the new mom. Our goal is to be a helping hand to families during the joyful, yet sometimes overwhelming weeks after bringing a new baby/child home. The Mentor Mom needn’t consider herself an expert in mothering, but rather have a caring heart toward women going through this transitional time.
What does a Mentor Mom do? A Mentor Mom reaches out to the new mom with a phone call before the baby’s expected arrival. She introduces herself, offers the mom her phone number and email address, and asks the mom if she would like a short visit after the baby/child comes home. During this visit, the Mentor Mom delivers a gift from Woodlands Church, as well as a folder with helpful information. At this time, she may also deliver a few frozen meals that have been prepared by someone else within the New Moms Ministry Team. (The meal delivery will vary from family to family, but it will never be the Mentor Mom’s responsibility to prepare the meals.) After this initial visit, the Mentor Mom simply needs to be a resource for the new mom during those transitional weeks after bringing her sweet child home. Praying for the new mom is one of the best things a Mentor Mom can do! ☺
Thank you for your willingness to serve as a Mentor Mom for the New Moms Ministry Team. So that we can best match you with one of our new moms, please provide the following information. Once completed, please return to the church office. You will be contacted soon by Gina Jordan, Mentor Mom Coordinator. (Note: You will not be matched with more than two moms at one time.)
