Nursery in Plover

We provide nursery ministries during all of our Sunday morning worship services.  Our nursery teams are a mix of parents and a team of screened workers.  We love to provide a caring place for these precious gifts to your family while you participate in our worship experiences.

nrsry.jpg

Our nurseries are for children from birth to age two.  We group children by age and development.  Our usual grouping for the nurseries is infants, ones and twos.  We occasionally adjust these groupings based on numbers of kids involved in the ministry.

We also provide a Parents Room for families who wish to keep children with them during services.  This room is available to allow nursery-age children a little more wiggle room (and noise level) while allowing parents to follow the service on video.

If you have more specific questions about our wellness policy or check-in and paging procedures you can click on the links below.

Please be considerate of others when determining whether your child should be in the nursery or not. For the sake of the health of children and volunteers and staff, please do not leave your child if they have experienced any of the following symptoms within the past 24 hours:

      • Fever (100 degrees or more)
      • Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)
      • Vomiting or Diarrhea
      • Persistent coughing or bringing up phlegm
      • Chicken Pox
      • Discharge from eyes, ears or nose
      • Any rash (except diaper)
      • Diagnosed with/or being treated for a communicable disease

If any of these symptoms arise while your child is in our care, your child will be removed from the nursery and you will be contacted immediately.

If your child comes down with a contagious disease (lice, chicken pox, meningitis, hand, foot, mouth disease, etc.) and you did not know about it before they had contact with other children in our nurseries please contact Tory Esqueda

Our nursery staff is a caring and dedicated mixture of paid workers, ministry partners, and parent volunteers.

The first time you come to put your child in the nursery you will need to stop at our children’s ministry check in desk and fill out a brief information sheet on your child. If there are allergies or medical concerns for your child, please make us aware of that information as well. All of this information is then put into our computer system and helps us provide the best that we can for your child while they are in our care.

When you check your child in you will be given a name tag to place on your child, and a paper slip that you will need to keep with you and return when checking your child out. This prevents anyone but the person with the slip from checking out your child. We will use texting to contact you quickly if your child is having any challenges adjusting or if we have any care questions. Please be sure to keep your phone on vibrate during the service. We have friendly and helpful staff that will be happy to answer any questions you have and will work with you and your child to make the drop off transition as easy as possible.

The windows into our nurseries allow you to view your youngster without them noticing. If your child is having a difficult time at any point while they are with us we will contact you.

At the conclusion of the service you will simply need to bring the check out slip you recieved during check in and give it to one of the teachers.

2016-2017 SUNDAY SCHOOL

We're so excited for all God's going to teach our kids this year through The Gospel Project, a great new adventure through the Scriptures for kids in preschool through 4th grade.

Each Sunday, all kids in 1st through 6th grade will gather together in Celebration Square for an opening which includes high energy worship and a fun welcome. Then, our 1st - 4th graders will break out to experience Scripture through The Gospel Project.

Preschool classes are down the hall and meet during both the 9:15 and 10:45 services as well. All 3's, 4K and Kindergarten kids will be traveling through the Gospel Project together.

Our 5th and 6th grade boys and girls will stay in Celebration Square throughout the morning for FLYTE - exploring Faith and Life, Together. We're very excited!

Of course, we also have nursery programming throughout the year during the 9:15 and 10:45am services.

Never been to Woodlands before? Not a problem! No pre-registration necessary! Just go to our Kid's Central Welcome desk and our staff and volunteers will help you sign up your child and introduce you to their teachers and classrooms!

A Midweek Family Program at Woodlands

Our Parent's Guide - the Bridge - serves as a full year schedule - with theme nights, special nights, weekly summaries and at-home ideas for each week of Kid's Crossing! kidscrossing copy.png

Kid's Crossing is a dynamic mid-week kid's program that engages kids, focuses them on the truth of God's Word, encourages memorization and community, and puts parents in the drivers-seat in their children's discipleship and walk with God. We're gearing up for another great year of Kid's Crossing in 2016-2017, and hope that your children will join us on this journey!

What Happened to AWANA?

A midweek children's program has been a mainstay at Woodlands for many, many years, and we would never change that! We've enjoyed the AWANA curriculum, and its track record of faithfully encouraging memorization and study is amazing. But, after prayerful consideration, we feel the families at Woodlands would be best served by a new program that focuses on nightly continuity and family disciplemaking.

Quick Info 2016-2017:

In 2016-2017, we'll be covering these 6 modules:
  • Who Is the Holy Spirit?
  • How Do I Read the Bible?
  • How Do I Pray?
  • What Is the Gospel?
  • What Does God Want Me to Do?
  • What Is the Bible?
We also have three special nights:
  • Family Church - November 1st, 2016
  • The Great Cake Bake Off - February 28th, 2017
  • The Carnival - May 11th, 2017

Ok, sell me on Kid's Crossing in one paragraph.

The quick highlights: All kids, in all grades, are learning the same focused topic during the night. They all memorize the same verse (age contextualized - the younger kids learn a shorter version, of course), they all hear teaching on the same topic, and they all get in your car at the end of the night thinking along the same lines. And then we, the church, put a powerful new tool in your - the parents - hands, to help you take the steering wheel and disciple your kids. We've said all along - we want our work to be a springboard for family disciplemaking - not a substitute for it.

Tell me about this at-home resource for this year...

Last year, we provided parents with a book that guided them through the year, introducing our teaching topics, sharing the verse and a marriage moment, and including fun at-home application points for the topic of the week.

This year, we're changing that, and making available a convenient day (desk) calendar for families that will help everyone stay on the same page (um, no pun intended?)! Each day, tear off a new sheet to see an idea, discussion starter, marriage moment, verse or more that ties in directly to what we're talking about at Kid's Crossing that week. Every Tuesday, we'll list the theme verse and the theme night. Put it on the piano, the fridge - leave it in your livingroom, on your desk at work or... anywhere. It'll help you remember the date, and gently guide you in teaching these essential truths to your kids.

It's quick, easy, fiercely practical, and ties everything together beautifully.

More information about the 2016-2017 Bridge will be available in mid-June, and the Bridge will be available for purchase in September 2016.

Sounds good for me. But will my kids like it?

Ha! That's the thing, isn't it? In short - they should! So much is similar to what we've done in the past! Each night will include great games, some engaging teaching, practical small groups, Bible memorization, singing and lots of great people. But, everything is simplified, and everyone is working together - on the same page. Kids will learn verses together, have opportunities to wrestle with real life questions together, and grow closer to one another throughout the year. Plus, we realigned the ages to make more sense: Minis, our 3's through Kindergarten, will have a blast; Mids - our 1st grade - 3rd grade - will love the pace; and Majors - our 4th -6th grade, will be genuinely challenged and loved.

So yes, let us rephrase our answer. Your kids will love it.

What about rewards?

Rewards are nothing to scoff at! They're great motivators, and we want to use them to encourage participation. There are two main rewards we give out:

Pins: When a child completes all four sections of a module, they receive a pin that relates to that module, that then gets attached to their nametag lanyard. We make a big celebration of this! If a child makes their way through all three years as a Mini, Mid or Major, he or she would receive all 18 pins and fill the lanyard!

KidMin Kash: Every night a child completes their section (recites the verse and answers application questions), he or she receives a KidMin Kash Coin. These coins are redeemable once a month at KidMin Kash Out, for great and fun prizes! Save up for the big prizes!

Huh. Actually sounds cool! What's the next step?

Glad you think so! We're pretty pumped. Registration is officially open, so go ahead and register! FYI - If you're an adult or teen that wants to help out next year, well... click here!

MOPS

MOPS

We've had great enthusiasm for the upcoming MOPS year! Unfortunately, at this time, our childcare for children under 2 is CLOSED and waitlisting. If you are a preschool mom of an infant or 1 year old, please click the registration below but check the "I Need to Join the Waitlist," option.*

The only reason we waitlist moms is because of a need for childcare workers.
If you can help us find additional workers, we would love to continue growing this program!
Please email jwilhelm@woodlandschurch.org if you have any ideas for childcare workers.

Regular registration is still open for kids ages 2 and over, and for MOPS NEXT.

click here to register for 2016-2017.

Woodlands Church is thrilled to continue MOPS for the 2016-2017 school year - blessing mothers of preschoolers with real relationships, great fellowship, relevant teaching and... wait for it... FREE CHILDCARE! Yeah - it's good.

MOPS meets every first and third Thursday of the month from 9:15-11:15am at Woodlands Church.

The cost for MOPS throughout the year is $50, which goes to cover material costs national fees.

*If you can find other childcare for your "under 2" kids, you're welcome to register! Or, consider encouraging your childcare worker to volunteer in the MOPS nursery. You'll be able to drop your kids off easier, and you'll provide opportunity for more moms to leave the waitlist!
