We support a growing number of people and organizations who share the love of Christ with people around the world.  We want to excel at raising up and supporting people who are actively involved in fulfilling Christ’s great commission.  (Matthew 28:18-20)

We encourage you to learn more about the people that we support by stopping by the Global Outreach wall in the foyer.  We highlight 3 missionaries (& their families, if applicable) each month.  Their mission focus, who they work with, prayer requests and financial partnership information is provided.

CONCERN FOR THE POOR

We have a growing commitment to find practical ways to join with organizations and churches around the world that work and minister among the physically as well as the spiritually needy people of the world.

We have found that one of the best ways to help the poor is through organizations that have a long track record of successfully helping people who live in poverty all over the world. It is also helpful to choose a practical, regular hands on way to do that.

We recommend that you consider sponsoring a child in need through Compassion International.  Our church partners with Compassion in India, but we would encourage you consider sponsoring a child in any area of the world that is of interest to you.  To learn more about Compassion and child sponsorship, please click the Compassion box below.

We are also delighted to be actively partnering with Los Olivos church in Sumpango Guatemala.  Their church has a focused and effective strategy to help people take progressive steps out of the cycle of poverty.

SHORT TERM TEAMS

short-term-missions.jpg

We frequently send out teams of people from our church to engage in hands on ministry overseas, and to build relationships with the individuals, churches and organizations that we support.

When we travel overseas to do ministry in teams, God uses the experience not only to bless those we serve, but also to open our eyes in a new way to the needs of the world.  Deep friendships, both with our partners in other countries and with our teammates are often formed.  The privilege of being on a team with others and working hard with overseas friends to accomplish a mutually agreed upon project, is an incredibly rewarding and growing experience.

short_term2.jpg

One of our goals at Woodlands is to help as many people as we can experience the joy of short-term service in another country.  On every trip our goal for each team member is to go and to serve in “fourth place.”  That means, God is first, the people in the host country are second, our teammates third, and we are in “fourth place”.  We believe this reflects the heart of our Leader, Jesus.

Over the past several years we have sent teams to Guatemala, Peru, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Uganda & Haiti.  Contact Whitney to see what trips are coming up.

GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS

We are partnering with four local churches overseas in Guatemala, India, and Indonesia.  Over the next ten years our goal is to develop at least three more of these partnerships.

GUAT1.jpg

Guatemala: Los Olivios Mision Cristiana Evangelica

Los Olivios is a 60-year-old fellowship located in Sumpango and became the 1st and only Evangelical Free Church in Guatemala in 2005.  Their Mission is "To glorify God by making new believers and changing lives through the teaching of God's Word and serving the people."  In 2009, Los Olivios established a 10-year plan for reaching Sumpango County with the gospel of Christ.

GUAT3.jpg

We partner with Los Olivios by financially supporting their ministry through Oscar & Karla Chiquito (who serve and lead at Los Olivios) and by sending short-term teams.  To date, Woodlands has made seven medical mission trips to Sumpango and two youth trip to Sumpango.  Future Woodlands/Los Olivos Partnership opportunities include a variety of mission trips, community development projects, land acquisition and micro credit loan funding.

India: Compassion International - Covenant Family Church

INDIA1.jpg

Our Indian partnership church is located in the northeastern corner of India.  The Compassion project, called the Duars Child Development Center, is located on the large and spacious grounds of the church, which is nestled in the hillside community of Samuktola, home to approximately 35,000 residents.

The 350 children of the project walk to and from home to attend 3 hours of after-school activities led by Compassion staff.  Each evening a full and healthy meal is served.  Woodlands sent a team to India in February of 2011 and in October of 2012. We also have a variety of families from Woodlands who support children from the East India Compassion Project monthly.

Indonesia: Cahaya Suku

In Indonesia we partner with an organization called Cahaya Suku (meaning Light to the Islands). The team of 8 national workers we support is called "Bethel 2".  The names and location of Bethel 2 can't be disclosed due to security reasons in Indonesia.  Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world and many people have never heard the Good News.  Bethel 2 is bringing the gospel to the unreached people with the goal of making disciples and starting house churches.

indo1.jpg

Because of the religious restrictions in Indonesia, it is not possible to send Western Christians to do the work, but we can grow in our love and understanding of the Muslim peoples by financially supporting these Indonesian workers as Christ's ambassadors to this strategic area of the world.  We also provide times of refreshment for this team by sponsoring and attending staff retreats and sending short-term teams to help teach basic English.
